Room 12 chose to paint flowers to learn how to mix and blend colours using just blue, red, yellow and white.
They were able to control light and dark areas in leaves, petals and the background.

Room 2 learnt to  mix the primary colours to produce any colour they wanted for their rainbow fish. They used their drawing skills with layers of crayon to quickly create their shape then painted on top. They used glitter paint for the rainbow scales and a black glue outline to make their fish stand out.

Room 16 listened to the story "I need my monster!" on the website storylineonline.net and loved the idea of having your own pet monster that lived under your bed. We traced around their bodies and made their shadows into scary but friendly personal monsters. The children picked what features they wanted based on the monsters in the book and then they learnt how to mix the colours they wanted and painted them themselves. We had an exhibition and invited all the other classes to visit the monsters and everyone was so excited to see such fantastic artwork from our new entrant class. They took their monsters home to put under their beds so they would sleep well like the character in the book.

Room 10 joined us for art on Friday and learnt how to make different colours from just blue, yellow, red and white. They were really focused and helped each other with new discoveries. They learnt how to make orange, purple and green and how to make the colours lighter.
